Ken Houston, strong safety, Oilers, 1967-72. In six seasons in Houston and eight in Washington, the
Lufkin native and former Prairie View A&M player had a nose for the goal line like no other defender
in NFL history. Career highlights: Scored 12 career touchdowns, including nine interception returns.
First of three NFL players to score four TDs in a season on interception returns. Honors: Enshrined in
Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1986. Selected to 12 AFL All-Star Games or NFL Pro Bowls. Winner of the
1980 Byron "Whizzer" White Award from the NFL Players Association in 1980.
Moment to remember: Twice scored two touchdowns in a game, first on a blocked field goal and an
interception return against the Jets in 1967 in his third game as a starter, and again on two
interception returns against the Chargers in 1971.
